平和を願い、絵本で感じてみませんか？
今年で６回目になる絵本講師による無料オンラインの「平和を願う会」のお知らせです。
今回は、アメリカの平和活動家、フロイド・シュモーさんを描いた実話絵本『シュモーおじさん』をメインにお届けします。
広島、長崎への原爆投下に心を痛めたシュモーさんは、被爆後の広島に来て、戦争で家を失った人々のための住宅建設に尽力しました。
国や文化を越えて人と人が支え合った実話を通して、「平和ってなんだろう」「自分にできることってなんだろう」を一緒に感じ、考えるイベントです。この時間内に、平和や戦争についての絵本も何冊か読み聞かせをします。

We are pleased to announce the 6th annual “Gathering to Pray for Peace”—a free online event hosted by picture book instructors.
This year’s main feature is Uncle Schmoe (Uncle Floyd Schmoe), a picture book based on the true story of Floyd Schmoe, an American peace activist. Deeply pained by the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Mr. Schmoe traveled to post-war Hiroshima and dedicated himself to building homes for those who had lost theirs in the war.
Through this real-life story of people supporting one another across national and cultural boundaries, this event offers an opportunity to reflect together on questions like “What is peace?” and “What can I do?” During the event, we will also read aloud several other picture books related to peace and war.
