President: Miwa Russell

I moved to Southern Oregon from Seattle in 2012. I’m very happy to be a part of this organization where I have met many great friends. My goal as president is to continue planning events that are fun and celebrate Japanese culture.

Secretary: Tomomi Mori

I am honored to be your new JA-SO secretory!  I enjoy spending time in the outdoors with my family and I also enjoy cooking and baking.

Treasurer: Sayuri (Sai)

Japanese Language Education

ロードアイランド州で生まれ育ち、日本において留学生・会社員として住んだ経験もあります。日本語学習を通して南オレゴンの国際交流・コミュニケーションを支えたいと思います。娘や息子に二ヶ国語が話せるように日本語を教えています。

Originally from the east coast, I’ve lived, studied and worked in Japan before moving to the west coast.My primary inter-est is improving cross-cultural communication through community Japanese language learning.I have two children who I am rais-ing bilingually as a non-native Japanese speaker.

I moved to Ashland from Tokyo in 1985 and I’ve been living here for 35 years. I became a JA-SO member because I wanted to express how wonderful Japanese culture is.
